North Berwick Run

Run Report Submissions
The weather was amazing all day and when I turned up at the straring point, it was a beautiful evening, sun out, a wee breeze and all was good in life. Ed arrived shortly after and after a chat about how crap my CCM test ride was, Brian arrived, this time on his Pan, so hopefully no push starting bikes tonight. A quick check of the website showed we were the only three attending tonight, so after a quick briefing we set off. We made out way through Dalkeith and as we sat at a set of lights Brian pulled up along side and mnetioned he will need fuel. So, we almost went a mile and then stopped for fuel. Off we set again, through some back roads of East…

Run Report 4 distilleries in one day

Run Report Submissions
John Hill,Alex Muir, Jonathan Douglas,Kenny Anderson,Gordon Robertson, Peter Johnson, Ed Mackey Almost May for the most part, wet, cold but on the plus side 4 distilleries were visited via some winding roads some untravelled and the sun came out at 4:30 pm. Dobbies garden centre Stirling car park for 9:30 depart. By the time we reached the car park decision had been made, water proofs on. We headed up the motorway and peeled off for Crieff, then Aberfeldy. A well used road, over the top of the hills. Once at Aberfeldy we stopped for a short comfort break before heading out of Aberfeldy following the river, past the Whisky distillery. To join the A9 for a short stretch before taking a right hand off the A9 into some rural roads.…

Wee Wee Run

Run Report Submissions
No volunteers for a write up on the Wee Wee Run. Nobody wanted to even do A Wee Wee write up. Heads down and backs turned so no write up. 9 on the run and great breakfast at Mavi kitchen & bar £12 with coffee used to be Corries £6 with coffee. Through Balloch up side of Loch Lomond with a further blether stop at Inveruglas no I didn’t make that up. Then passing by Pulpit rock onto Lochearnhead for exercise and refreshments using the Laddies toilet was a change as Gentlemans were locked. Lots of talking and not a lot of miles in the sunshine but everyone thought that it was the best run in the world.Yes it was my run and write up. Thank you to Ian Ness…

Longniddry Chippy Run – It seemed like a good idea…

Run Report Submissions
Ed, Brian and myself, met at the Greggs drive through off the A7. It was a sunny but chilly Thursday evening but all ready for the first chippy run of 2023. After the usual pre-run chat, we headed off down the A7. A few twists and turns and dodging some potholes we got onto some nice twistys and an hour or so later ended up in Longniddry, just as the sun was beginning to set. Didn't think I"d complain about the sun, but heading back West into the setting sun was somewhat challenging. As we arrived at the chippy, i was just about to switch on the head grips as the temperature took a drop with the wind chill. Pretty decent fish supper, good quantity, nice fish, good amount of…

CHAS Easter Run

Run Report Submissions
A good turn out for our annual joining in on Carron Valley Motorcycle Club's CHAS Easter Run. 14 of us met at Bowtrees Services and headed for the start at the Falkirk Wheel car park; only to be beaten in to getting there by the Curvey Riders, who obviously took a less scenic route! It was a good turn out in the Spring sunshine with hundreds of bikes there of all different types to wander round and admire and also catch up with old friends. At least we had the Curvey Riders to follow on the parade to Kinross !! After Kinross we had a pleasant run to our usual lunch stop at The Hayloft in Falkland where we enjoyed some good food, coffees and banter. Ali Lazizi a prospective…

Chairman’s Run – St Marys Loch, Saturday 1 April 2023

Run Report Submissions
On the morning of Saturday 1 April 2023, Peter led us into the southern hemisphere … and the weather was glorious! APRIL FOOL! … only joking … the weather wasn’t glorious … bit spotty but far from bad either. Dress code: waterproofs and winters (for traditionalists like me who don’t have heaters). Thirteen of us assembled at the appointed time at Dreghorn filling station, south Edinburgh, to ‘blow off the cobwebs’. It was quite a crowd and in all the excitement, run leader Peter caught me talking as he was about to explain the route. Looking up, I found myself penalised with scribe. I protested but the court of ‘12 good men’ (yes, all men, which is already unfair) went along with the judgement, so here we are: David Jerome…

SMC @ motorcycle show

Run Report Submissions
The Club stand had five of our bikes on display plus a custom-made column with pix of our runs and a map of the new Challenge. Marc Elvin had made it beautifully and it even had a storage section for us to stow our jackets and bits. The highlight for me was a pair of iPads attached running a video display each, one of the new Challenge and the second with a review of last year's runs. Ian Ness had prepared these for the AGM and they made an excellent display of the Club's activities. Pix here. We attracted a fair amount of passsing interest, including someone offering a new seat for my Cagiva. Andrew's Firestorm had a light display - and a spare battery to run it. I met…

A Short Dull Run

Run Report Submissions
DULL … the sensational #1 run report of 2023! Ghost written by Ed (‘my memory is my memory, it does what it does, gathers and curates as it sees fit, and there's just as much truth in what I remember and how I remember it as there is in so-called objective facts’) Mackey. Three of us turned out at Dobbies, Stirling, for the first run of 2023: Ian McIntosh, Run Leader (black BMW 1250RT, the ‘Bat Bike’), Kenny Anderson, TEC (red Ducati Multistrada 950S) and self (black Yamaha XJ6). After the big freeze – still evident in places – the weather was overcast, calm and comfortably mild. With wet roads, the morning of Tuesday 24 January might be described unremarkable, ‘dull’ even. Kenny lamented a catalogue of woes experienced in…
