13 bikers turned out on a sunny evening for the 23 mile Chippy run to Burntisland. We’ll go anywhere for some good Fish & Chips, even Fife!
It was a little awkward parking on the exit roads from the petrol station prior to leaving but it was Duncan’s first time organising a run. Just before leaving I noticed that Steve’s front tyre looked a bit flat, we got it pumped up thanks to Peter’s portable compressor but Steve didn’t want to take any chances, so he went home and changed bike and met us at the chippy. Leaving Bowtrees went smoothly but we got a little bit spread out when we joined the M876 but the drop off system kept everyone on the right route and more or less together, we all made it Burntisland safely.
After parking up and some chat we proceeded to the chippy, where there was no queue, but we had to wait as most of the food was cooked to order, it was worth the wait knowing it was cooked fresh!
Steve joined us after swapping out his bike just as we started to delve into our food and was soon enjoying his own. After some fascinating chat and some introduction to the new members the sun was starting to go down as was the temperature, so we all headed homewards.
We all took various routes I followed Ian Ness not realising that he was heading to Perth on the back road to Cowdenbeath (a great we road BTW), I peeled off on ton the A92 and back to Rosyth where I saw some of the guys heading back home over the bridge. I carried on back the way we had come and came across Dave Waddell heading back to Falkirk, so I just followed him back to Bowtrees.
A great first run for organiser Duncan.
Attendees: Kenny Anderson, Tim Jenkins, Mandy Johnson, Steve Middleton, Ian Ness, Peter Johnson, Norman Mitchell, Rebecca Robertson, David Jerome, Ali Lazizi, Dave Waddell, David Thwaites and Duncan Calder.
Thank you everyone for contributing to a very enjoyable evening.
Thanks Norman, it was indeed a great run. Well done Duncan, there will be no stopping you now! with all the drop off’s and Mandy TECing for you nobody got lost. A very enjoyable evening indeed.
Great run report Norman – many thanks.
As run leader I was worried in case we lost anyone along the way but, given that David Thwaites joined us en-route, am I the first run leader to arrive with MORE followers than he set off with?!
Great run, friendly company, tasty fish and a very relaxed ride with Duncan as lead (his first) and Mandy as TEC. More of the same, please! Thank you everyone for an enjoyable evening.
I thank the eagle eyes that spotted my flat (newly fitted) tyre, and Peter for his pump kit. Leak checks are taking place as I write.
Well done Duncan & thank you and Mandy..
