A good turn out for our first run of the new season with 15 of us at the start at Bowtrees Services, Kincardine, joining a bigger than usual gathering at the Falkirk Wheel lower car park, for the Carron Valley Bike Club’s annual Easter charity ride in aid of CHAS. We were blessed with good weather for the whole day, after a chilly chart. It was interesting to walk around and see all the different bikes before the start and have a chat. As always it was a well organised event by the Carron Valley Bike Club with the police providing support by giving us priority through all the junctions from the start to the finish at Kinross Services. After another break here and a welcome coffee, 10 of us headed to Falkland and our customary stop at The Hayloft where we had an enjoyable lunch together. Two more left the group here, fortunately leaving only 8 of us to be misled by our leader, John Hill, for the route over the hill to Leslie. Because as we left the village along the narrow streets towards the hill, we found that the road was closed. So after “U” turns etc, we re-grouped to head out of the village in the opposite direction. It was more of an adventure, for me anyway, without having done a recce beforehand. Without a sat nav, I managed to find an alternative route back to rejoin the planned route and make our way to Marco’s Kitchen in Kincardine where 5 of us indulged in another refreshment stop. Thanks to David Jerome for doing the TEC job and not losing anybody, especially with new members Allan Jones and Rob Hunter-Smith on their first run with the Club. The others on the run were David Syme, Rebecca and Charlie Robertson, Ian Ness, Marc Elvin, Tom Sutherland, Norman Mitchell, Ali Lazizi, Kenny Anderson, Peter Johnson and Ian Jones.
I think we all had a good and enjoyable day out.

Nice run as always John. Massive thanks for organising.
An excellent day out on the bikes, what a great start to the 2024 season. And the weather was even kind to us with dry roads and sunshine all day.
Many thanks to John for organising the run and also writing this report for us all to enjoy.
Looking forward to another great year with the club 😁
