In the end there were just 5 of us, Antonios Tsikrikas, Kenny Anderson, Ali Lazizi, Peter Johnson who was TEC and myself leading, who wanted to support the CHAS event and to see what the weather could throw at us. Well we had all 4 seasons before we even left the CHAS start at the Falkirk Wheel car park. Unfortunately the gathering was much smaller than usual, presumably because of the aftermath of Storm David. Probably about 150 bikes and everything well organised by Carron Valley MCC and the police as usual. We did have Martin Pennycook there to support us again, together with daughter and grandson.
After leaving the start and soon after crossing the Kincardine Bridge we ran into a minor snow storm. The road went white for a short while and our bike gauges all suddenly showed an ice warning. But thankfully it didn’t last and half a mile later the sun was out.
One benefit of the much smaller numbers, it made it much easier to park together at the CHAS finish at Kinross services, and to sit inside with a warming coffee.
We five then went on to our usual for lunch at The Hayloft in Falkland. Always good and made welcome.
A different route in the afternoon after going up over the hill behind Falkland to Leslie. This time we went via Kelty and headed towards Saline where the sky was getting ominously blacker and blacker. Fortunately turning left there for Oakley, Torryburn and Culross we only got a little rain, arriving in the dry at our final destination, Marco’s Kitchen in Kincardine.
We unanimously decided to forgo more refreshments and head our separate ways home while it was still dry. We’d had enough weather for one day!
Thanks Peter for doing the TEC job and everybody for making it such an enjoyable biking day.

Despite the changeable weather, it was a good day spent with a friendly company of riders. As a bonus for myself, I think I managed to get a ‘free lesson’ in cornering just by following behind you. Looking forward to future runs this season. Muchas gracias amigos.
