SUMMARY:2025 SMC AGM – Wednesday 12.03.25
DESCRIPTION:The AGM will be held on Wednesday 12th March in The Willow Tree\, 14 West Port\, Linlithgow EH49 7AZ (formerly The Black Bitch). Tea and Coffee will be available from 7:00pm in the upstairs function room\, the AGM meeting will start promptly at 7:30pm. \nBelow is the Notice\, Agenda and a form for motions and nominations. \nAs well as reporting on the years activities\, and going through any motions which may have arisen\, the AGM is the time when your committee are voted on for the following year. \nThe existing committee will formally step down at the AGM and a vote will take place for each position and members are encouraged to put themselves forward for any position they feel they can contribute to regardless of whether an existing committee member is re-standing. \nSome of our current committee members are happy to stand again if no-one wishes to put themselves forward. However\, there will now be 3 vacancies which we require to be filled by members this year\, as the committee will be down to critical numbers. Our current Runs and Events Co-Ordinator and our Web Administrator will be standing down\, and the role of Membership Secretary is still vacant. \nIn addition to these named vacancies it is our intention to bring forward a motion to create General Committee Member position(s) allowing members to volunteer for a non-specific role in the hope this will be less daunting and encourage members to step forward. More information on this role is below and we encourage members to volunteer\, with the creation of this role being voted on at the AGM. \nHave you been with the club for more than a few years? wishing to become more involved in the direction the club is going? can bring new ideas? one of these roles could be for you. \nRuns and Events Co-Ordinator\, comprises of adding runs and events to the website\, either created by yourself\, or another club member\, or from our back catalogue. Keeping a record of run attendees\, leaders and TEC’s. Keeping members updated via a memory jogger email weekly during the busy months. It is NOT the responsibility of the Runs Coordinator to lead all the runs\, so don’t let that put you off. \nWeb Administrator\, this role will require someone with a bit of computer / web development knowledge as you will be involved in maintaining and developing our website. Our website was migrated over to Word Press last year\, and has proved to be an easier platform to use and maintain. This may sound a daunting task if you are not experienced in this area\, but we know we have members with these skills and are directly asking for your help. And it’s not too difficult to learn\, with assistance from the current Web Administrator. \nThe Membership Secretary role is quite involved throughout the year\, setting up the AGM notices and agenda\, sending out membership renewal letters and chasing up late comers\, taking in and banking membership fees\, sending out electronic membership cards as well as speaking with prospective new members via Facebook and email and inviting them to join us on runs and club nights and dealing with our BMF affiliation renewal. \nGeneral Committee Member this newly created role does not have any specific tasks assigned to it and is there to allow members to volunteer\, help out as and when required while seeing how the Committee works in the hope that as you would then feel comfortable taking on a “named position” in subsequent years. Member input is vital to the continuation of the Club and we hope to encourage newer members to join the Committee to ensure a smooth transition from one Committee to another as we move forward. \nIf you are interested in volunteering or would like further information on any of the committee posts\, please contact me by replying to this email. \nAs always\, your voice is important to the future of the club and we want to ensure we represent ALL our members and take the club forward for our mutual benefit so please try to attend the AGM if you are able to and make your opinions known \nThe meeting will receive reports from the current office bearers\, consider any competent motions\, elect office bearers and set the membership fee for the forthcoming year as laid out in the enclosed agenda. \nAny member wishing to propose a motion should submit the motion by email to the secretary. This must be received no later than Wednesday 12th February. The motion must be supported by a proposer and a seconder who are current members. \nAny member wishing to nominate either themselves or another member for an elected (committee) post should submit an application to the secretary. This must be received no later Wednesday 12th February. The application must be supported by a proposer\, a seconder and the agreement of the nominee (if applicable)\, all of whom should be current members. \nAny motions and all elections shall be decided by a vote of those present at the meeting (and all valid proxy votes).\nAny member wishing to vote by proxy should notify the secretary by email specifying their name\, and their proxy nominee. This must be received no later than Wednesday 12th February. \nMotions\, nominations and Any Other Competent Business will be accepted by email. All nominations received by e-mail from the recorded e-mail address shall be accepted as bona fide. \nMotions and nominations may be submitted using the forms below.\nAfter the closing date a full Agenda will be provided giving a brief summary of any motions proposed. \nAGM 2025 Draft Agenda\n1. Apologies\n2. Approval of Minutes of 2024 AGM\n3. Reports from the Office Bearers & any queries.\n3.1. Treasurer\n3.2. Web Administrator\n3.3. Runs and Events Co-Ordinator\n3.4. SUMMARY:Dead End Run - Thursday 12.09.24
DESCRIPTION:Thursday 12th of September \nCrieff Visitor Centre 09.15 for 09.30 start \nFinish at Crieff Visitor Centre \nA full days ride to the end of the UKs longest no through road! \nA straightforward route today starting from Crieff to Dunkeld where we’ll join the A9 for a short stint to Dalwhinnie. From here it’s the A86 to Spean Bridge and north to Invergarry. Just after the start of Loch Garry there’s a left turn that leads along a very scenic (apparently) single track to our stop at the tea room at Lochhournhead. \nOur return route will see us head south through Fort William and Glencoe returning to our finish back at the Crieff Visitor Centre. \nOptional coffee and fuel stops as required on the day. \nGoogle says 7hrs riding time and 280 miles. Hope to be back in Crieff by 5.30. Full day for sure but probably the last opportunity before the nights draw in and\, more importantly\, the tearoom shuts for the season! \nRoute here:- https://maps.app.goo.gl/Kdo41atsvfRQqNMo6?g_st=ic \nRun leader will be Ian McIntosh

SUMMARY:I think I'll Pass Run 17.08.24
DESCRIPTION:Updated 7/8 \nI’ve private messaged all attendees via forum with a pre-run briefing and some more information. If you don’t receive this please message me. \n\nUpdated 17/7 \nDouble checking everyone that is registered has booked accommodation. \nAlso I have booked dinner at the hotel for 9 at 8pm. If that doesn’t suit anyone please let me know. \n\nThis is a 2 day\, 1 night trip down to the Lake District\, covering a couple of hundred miles each day and taking in 7 of the mountain passes in the Lakes. Planning on staying in the Bridge Inn in Stanton\, that has various room types available. It is up to you to book your room and please book early to ensure availability as there is a lack of accommodation in that area. \nDay 1 – Meeting at 8am for a 8:30 departure from Dreghorn Service in Edinburgh (please ensure you top up fuel at Dreghorn) we shall head down the A68\, cutting off to take in the Kielder Forrest road and stopping at the Rocky Road Cafe in Bellingham for coffee and a break. From there we shall head towards Alstom for pertrol and down the Hartside Pass\, around Penrith and from there we shall head into the Lakes\, past Ullswater and through to our lunch /coffee at Cafe called Fellbites in Glenridding. From there we shall head uo the Kirkstone Pass and down into Ambleside\, onto Wrynrose Pass and the legendary Hardknott Pass. After that it is a short ride to the hotel for the night. \nDay 1 Route Here \nDay 2 – Breakfast at 8am. Leaving the hotel at 9am we shall head up to Cockermouth and pick up some go juice before heading across to Whinlatter Pass\, down to Newlands Pass and onto Honister Pass before stopping in Keswick for Coffee. After that a short blast across to the M6 and unfortunately a few miles up the M6 before heading off onto the A7. After a short time on A7 a slight detour onto a more interesting road\, the B6357\, through Newcastleton and Hawick and stopping in Selkirk for Fuel and a late lunch/coffee. From there we shall head over to Peeble and up the A703 finishing at The Steading on the outskirts of Edinburgh. \nDay 2 Route Here \nI would suggest that this run is for more experienced riders\, given the miles to cover and types of roads. We shall be making progress when safe to do so. \nI would also advise checking out Ian’s video from a previous Lakes trip to understand what Hardknott Pass is like.
