DESCRIPTION:Meeting point\, arrival time and start time:\nDreghorn Service Station (Shell)\n09:45 for 10:00 start \nHead out east on the city bypass and onto the first stop at the Prestongrange Museum. Proceed east past Longniddry to Mungoswells\, following the signpost to the Myreton Motor Museum and the second stop. Heading south through Haddington\, Humbie\, Tynehead\, Heriot and onto Innerleithen and the third stop at St Ronan’s Well. Leaving Innerleithen travelling west on the Peebles Road\, stop at the Glentress Mountainbike Centre for lunch at The Handlebar & Grill. After lunch\, proceed west along the Peebles Road to BP Peebles for fuel. Back onto the A72 heading west out of Peebles and onto Biggar to the fourth stop at Biggar Gasworks Museum. Leaving the Biggar Gasworks Museum we head south and west to the final stop at Douglas Heritage Museum. SUMMARY:The Campsie Hills & Trossachs Run - Saturday 25.04.26
DESCRIPTION:Starting Point: Dobbies Garden Centre Stirling\n10:00am for a 10:15am start \nDistance: Approximately 115 miles\, 3hr 20min riding time.\nRoute suitable for all riders. \nRun Leader: Ian Ness \nAt long last the weather seems to be improving\, hopefully this will be an enjoyable ride in the sunshine over the Campsie Hills and the ever popular Trossachs. \nLeaving Dobbies we head west on the A84 towards Blair Drummond\, turning onto the B8075 Gargunnock Road\, then A811 and B822 to Fintry. At Fintry we turn left and ride the B822 Crow Road\, where we’ll have a photo stop at the Campsie Glen View car park\, before continuing on to Lennoxtown. The run will continue on via Strathblane and Gartmore to Aberfoyle for a coffee / lunch stop. \nThe next section takes us over the Trossachs to Kilmahog to join the A84 to Lochearnhead. Then on through St Fillans\, Comrie\, Gleneagles and the end of the run at the Powmill Milk Bar. \nThis is a fairly short run with coffee /lunch stop at Aberfoyle and also coffee at the end of the run at Powmill Milk Bar if you wish. \nDetails of the route can be found by clicking here.

SUMMARY:CHAS Run – Carron Valley MCC Easter Run – Sunday 05.04.26
DESCRIPTION:As with previous years\, we plan to join a number of other riders at the Carron Valley MCC Easter Run in aid of C.H.A.S. \nThe day will be a mix of SMC Club run and joining the group ride out. It will start at the BP Bowtrees Petrol Station at Kincardine Bridge at 09:00 for a 9:30 departure. We shall then continue as a group to the CHAS starting point\, Three Bridges Car Park. Marshalls shall direct us to suitable parking spot. There is no checking in\, just the opportunity to soak in the atmosphere\, have a look at the bikes and make a donation to the charity. \nThe procession\, shall leave at around 10:30 heading towards Kinross Services. The route shall be 125cc friendly and shall be marshalled by the police. Hopefully we shall be able to stick together as a group as there is generally no overtaking. We shall arrive in Kinross again being marshalled to parking location. \nFrom Kinross Services\, John Hill will lead the SMC group on our club run to the Hayloft in Falkland for lunch @1:00pm\, and then onto a short run around Fife finishing at Marco’s Kitchen around 3:30pm. \nApprox. route to the Hayloft\, Falkland Route here \nApprox. route to Marco’s Kitchen Route here \nAround 80 miles\, under 3 hours riding time (very approximate distance and times due to the nature of the event) \nRun is suitable for all. \nRun Leader will be John Hill

DESCRIPTION:Start Crieff Visitor Centre 09.30 for 09.45 start\nFinish Crieff Visitor Centre approx 16.45 \nHi all\, with forecast appearing to warm up next week\, I thought I’d take the opportunity next Tuesday to take in four of the easterly challenge sites. If you’d like to join me I’ll be leaving Crieff and heading through Aberfeldy and on to first location near Pitlochry. From there it’s over to the A93 and on to Ballater with likely stop for coffee at either Glenshee or Braemar. From the AA Box site it’s onwards toward the coast and down to Montrose for the Air Museum. Leaving Montrose I’ll be heading back to Crieff taking in the Aberlemno Stones on route. I’m sure there will be another stop somewhere for coffee / lunch and fuel stop if required. \nGood opportunity to get the bikes off their winter chargers and put some miles under our wheels. Tea and Coffee will be available from 7:00pm in the upstairs function room\, the AGM meeting will start promptly at 7:30pm. \nBelow is the Notice\, Agenda and a form for motions and nominations. \nAs well as reporting on the years activities\, and going through any motions which may have arisen\, the AGM is the time when your committee are voted in for the following year. \nIn accordance with the club constitution\, the existing committee will formally step down at the AGM and a vote will take place for each position. Members are encouraged to put themselves forward for any position they feel they can contribute to regardless of whether an existing committee member is standing for re-election. \nSome of our current committee members are happy to stand again for re-election. However\, there are 4 vacancies which we require to be filled by members this year\, as the committee will be down to critical numbers. Our current Treasurer and our Merchandising Officer will be standing down\, although\, the current Merchandising Officer intends to stand for election to the Treasurer role. The roles of Web Administrator and Runs Coordinator are still vacant. \nIn addition to these named vacancies\, we created at the last AGM General Committee Member position(s)\, allowing members to volunteer for a non-specific role in the hope this will be less daunting and encourage members to step forward and contribute to the committee’s work.\nMore information on all these roles are below and we encourage members to seek nomination for the upcoming committee elections. \nAre you wishing to become more involved in the direction the club is going?…. can bring new ideas?…… one of these roles could be for you. Even if you haven’t been a member of the club for long\, we need you. \nRuns and Events Co-Ordinator\, comprises of adding runs and events to the website\, either created by yourself\, or another club member\, or from our back catalogue. Keeping a record of run attendees\, leaders and TEC’s. Keeping members updated via a memory jogger email weekly during the busy months. It is NOT the responsibility of the Runs Coordinator to lead any of the the runs\, so don’t let that put you off. \nWeb Administrator\, this role will require someone with a bit of computer / web development knowledge as you will be involved in maintaining and developing our website. Our website was migrated over to Word Press in the last couple of years\, and has proved to be an easier platform to use and maintain. This may sound a daunting task if you are not experienced in this area\, but we know we have members with these skills and are directly asking for your help. And it’s not too difficult to learn\, with assistance from the current caretaker Web Administrator. \nThe Merchandise Officer is responsible for the sourcing and making available for sale\, suitable motorcycling related items to the Members\, through the existing portal on the website\, and monitoring the sales volumes. \nGeneral Committee Member this recently created role does not have any specific tasks assigned to it and is there to allow members to volunteer\, help out as and when required while seeing how the Committee works in the hope that as you would then feel comfortable taking on a “named position” in subsequent years. Member input is vital to the continuation of the Club and we hope to encourage newer members to join the Committee to ensure a smooth transition from one Committee to another as we move forward. DESCRIPTION:“Raiders of the Glentrool Loop picnic run”\nSunday 24th August\n10am for a 10.15am start.\nStarting point is Abington Services\, Biggar ML12 6RG.\nRun distance approx 150 miles.\nRun time approx 4.5hrs excluding stops so allow 6 hrs.\n\nThere are petrol stops after 70 and 130 miles.\n\nThis run takes us from Abington Services down into Dumfries and Galloway on a mix of A and B roads but also includes something a little different…..\n\nThe route takes us from Abington along the glorious A702 to St John’s Town of Dairy where after passing through New Galloway we drop down the side of Loch Ken until we reach….. Raiders Road Forest Drive! This is a 10 mile stretch of forest road\, compact gravel and quite suitable for motorbikes on road tyres…..(we are also exempt from the fee to drive the road).\nAround halfway along the forest road we can stop at Otter Pools car park to enjoy our picnics\, there is a loo here also.\nHaving conquered this adventure off road nemesis we will continue on to Newton Stewart (petrol top up available) then head up towards Glentrool and ride up through Glentrool Forest to The Buck Tearoom at Straiton. DESCRIPTION:**CANCELLED** Cairngorms Loop\nSaturday 09/08/2025\n09.45 for 10am start at The Crieff Visitor Centre \nA loop around the Cairngorms taking in a bit of Deeside and The Cairn O’ The Mount road. \nOur route will take us to Methven\, Luncarty\, Blairgowrie\, Bridge O’Cally and on to our first stop at The Glenshee Ski Centre. \nAfter our coffee and comfort break we begin our loop through Braemar\, Ballater then dip south of the river Dee just before Aboyne. \nThis will take us down the Cairn O’ The Mount to Fettercain\, Kirriemuir and our second stop in Alyth at The Cafe in the Square (site of the famous axe wielding lady on a previous SMC run). \nReturn from here will be via Blairgowrie\, Luncarty and Methven again before our finish at The Crieff Visitor Centre. \nGoogle says approximately 5 hrs\, 190 miles so would estimate our finish to be between 4.30 and 5pm. \nRoute here \nRun Leader Ian McIntosh

SUMMARY:The Waterwheel Run - Saturday 02.08.25
DESCRIPTION:The Waterwheel Run \nSaturday 2nd August 2025 \n10:00am for a 10:15am start \nStarting Point: Crieff Visitors Centre \nDistance: Approximately 124 miles\, 4 hrs riding time. \nAllow at least another couple more hours for stops etc. \nPlease ensure that you have a full or almost full petrol tank before reaching the start point\, first petrol will be in Blairgowrie in 85 miles. \nThis run takes in some fabulous roads I rural Perthshire. It comprises of A\, B and unclassified roads with varying surfaces\, it also has hairpin bends and a water splash to clean your dirty tyres near the end. \nThe route takes us from Crieff up the Sma Glen to Aberfeldy\, Tummel Bridge\, Trinafour\, Calvine to Blair Atholl. Here we’ll stop for lunch at the Blair Atholl Watermill Cafe. If this is unsuitable the second option is “Food in the Park” close by. \nAfter lunch we continue on through Killiecrankie\, Pitlochry\, Kirkmichael\, Blairgowrie to Spittalfield and coffee stop at “The Walkin Cafe“. Not tried this venue so it’s a bit of an experiment.
