As this is my first run report you will have to forgive me for it’s brevity.
Nine of us met at the Asda parking lot in Dunbar for 09:30 to head out for 09:45.
Surprisingly enough with nine riders everyone was there on time.
It was a bit on the cool side at that time of the morning but a really nice day looked promising. That’s exactly how it turned out. By 13:00 it was perfect riding weather. Around 14 degrees and little wind. Out of the Asda car park and then a few miles south on the A1 before turning off onto biking nirvana.
Never ending twisties and sweeping bends with lots of ups and downs which with my bike’s suspension left my stomach near my throat going over some of the crests of the hills.
A lot of people coming to Scotland or indeed the residents mostly head up to the north west of the country for magnificent scenery but they miss a trick by not touring around the borders. Whether by bike or car. The hills are huge and magnificent.
The only thing you have to watch out for are the sheep. They have a habit of hanging around at the very edge of the road and the odd nervous one is quite likely to suddenly make a mad dash for the other side of the road.
We stopped for a bit of lunch at the Green Frog. Maybe owned by the same people as the Green Welly?
It is a very dog friendly place as they had a couple of dogs there that seemed to be right at home just wandering around and poking there noses here and there.
Basic sandwiches and tea or coffee was on offer.
After the break it was even more of the twisties. They seemed never ending till we got back to the A1. From there it was just a short ride back to the Asda at Dunbar. Three of the guys had peeled off a bit before the end of the run so six of us ended up back at the start point.
All in all it was a brilliant day with great weather and a great group. Niall really put together quite the route. Kudos to him and run leader Peter and tail end charlie Kenny ( I hope that’s the correct name, not positive). You know how it is. You get older your memory gets shorter.

Nice one Rob 👍
That was a great day, with lots of amazing biking roads. Well done Niall for putting that route together. Nice to see such a good turnout too!
Thanks Rob, an excellent summary of the days adventure. And remember Steve Middleton was TEC for most of the run, before Kenny took over the duties at Kelso, thanks Steve. A great run Niall, lots of great roads, a definite run for next year. And to everyone else, making it a very enjoyable day out biking.
