Sunday Post Run

Run date May 19th David Jerome

Well the weather was perfect for a run around Perthshire no North Sea Haar here!

The magnificent 7, 2 Ians, 2 Davids, 2 Alans (one extra L for Allan) and Rob left Dobbies and straight into the mad rush of traffic towards Doune and Callander. Looked like a nice classic car show on at Doune for the TR Register club.

A good selection of different bike styles with 3 Hondas, 3 BMWs and one Suzuki. We made our way towards the first stop with a lovely run over Glen Lyon via Killin, but stopped at the Dam for a photo and leg stretch. The tea stop was very welcome. A busy place but we all got what we wanted. There was the usual banter, some of it with Alan bringing his own packed lunch and hiding it from the staff, who I’m sure couldn’t care less because they wanted everyone to be happy.

Next stop was going to be Queens view, but it’s closed so onto the Motor Grill at Ballinluig, while we were there the Blue Angels turned up and seemed a decent bunch.

The only incidents during the day, I can think of that happened, was a tractor and a trailer trying to be too helpful on a single track road by reversing and getting into a bit of jackknife situation and an amount of loose chippings on a patch of newly dressed tarmac right on a bend.

Ian M did a good job of rounding us all up after the stops to get going again to keep on schedule, as I’m sure we could have kept on chatting all day. Also thanks to Ian J for TEC duties, those BMW lights sure are bright.

All in all, a very good day out, great roads and great company. I got home bang on 5:30 as planned. Big thanks to David S for a nice steady ride back to Edinburgh from the Visitor Centre at Crieff. Looking forward to the next run.

Many thanks David for writing up our run. All in all I think we had a pretty good day with even the weather playing ball too. Enjoyed the company and the chat on our stops as always. Not content with the miles covered on our route Allan decided to return to Paisley via Pittenweem to pick up another challenge site…. 😄
